On Monday, the Mayor and Council honored the author, Nicholas Buamah, with a proclamation.

“Mayor and City Council of the City of Snellville recognize and applaud Nicholas Buamah for creating an appealing work that will help elementary school students expand their vocabulary and improve their communication skills,” the proclamation reads.

Buamah, a student at Trinity Prep, wrote the vocabulary-building book “Kayla & Kyle The Walking Dictionaries, Election Day”, to help elementary school students expand their vocabularies and learn about the election process.

Buamah said “there are a plethora of elementary school libraries” and is working to have his book added to all of them. “Kayla & Kyle” has been added to the Library of Congress Book Catalog. He has plans to write another installment.

The proclamation came about after Buamah’s mother reached out to Mayor Pro Tem Dave Emanuel.

“Snellville is known for its volunteers,” Emanuel said. “So it’s fitting we recognized Nicholas because he goes school to school and meets with kids his age and shares his experiences with them. After one of Nicholas’s school visits, a girl told him she wanted his address so she could mail him her book when she wrote it. Nicholas embraces the giving spirit Snellville is known for.”
