Executive Training Class for newly appointed chiefs of police and heads of law enforcement agencies at the Dr. Curtis E. McClung Training Center in Duluth April 4-13. Over the week end I was able to connect with Asst Police Chief Perry and he told me “I feel very fortunate that Chief Whitehead and the City of Snellville would allow me to attend this beneficial training.”
The 60-hour course, administered and provided by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, is required by state law for all newly appointed heads of law enforcement agencies. The curriculum is designed to give newly appointed law enforcement administrators and command staff personnel training on police management, as well as inform them of laws andpolicies affecting their departments. Perry said, “During the 60 hour course there were topics covered related to managerial liability and E.E.O.C. laws, community policing, budget administration, staffing for law enforcement, media relations, social media, and the list goes on. It was by far the most involved training that I have attended during my law enforcement career.”
“The Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police is pleased to provide executive level training for the professional development of Georgia’s new law enforcement leaders.” said GACP President George Turner of the Atlanta Police Department. Perry was among 50 law enforcement administrators attending the course. Asst Chief Perry added “It was also outstanding to meet with many of the other leaders in public safety from around the state, and having the ability to build partnerships. It was encouraging to know that SPD is already using so many of the best practices that are being taught to the state’s law enforcement executives. That would be due to the vision that Chief Whitehead has established for the police department, and the outstanding work that the men and women do at SPD each and everyday.
 Greg Perry
It is truly an honor to have such access to the SPD and to know that although we know we have one of the best Police Departments in the state they continue to get updated education in order to be better and protect our citizens in the most efficient way possible. Hats off to Chief Whitehead and all of the staff at Snellville Police Department.

  1. Lieutenant Colonel Greg Perry is an awesome asset to our community. Raised here around Snellville, he continues to give back to his community. He spends much of his time with the Snellville Neighborhood Alert Program (SNAP), opening communications between the SPD and the neighborhoods. We are lucky to have this qualified leader to help in making Snellville a safe community to live.

  2. Congratulations Lieut. Col, Perry on your successful completion of the Executive Training Class recently. While your new position as Assistant Chief allowed it, your training and personal initiative through the years has earned it. I see this as a wonderful next step up on your career and a value added asset for the citizens of Snellville and their friends visiting and passing through.

  3. Outstanding! glad to be a part of a community where our police invest in us and take the initiatives and time, to stay up to date and learn more that ultimately, benefits back to the community. Thank you Mr Perry for your leadership and personal investments to further and better your career.
