And this is how it began last night at Snellville City Hall. To say the mood of these four officials and the many folks who gathered was eclectic is an understatement. But as I said, this is just the beginning. It seems the newly elected Mayor and council have a lot of work to do if they intend to follow through with the promises made to the constituents over the last 6 months or so. The new life in the Chambers last night was infectious. The support for all four, the unity of the crowded room and the unity and comradery of the entire Snellville community showed a great desire to get busy, roll up sleeves and get their hands dirty to turn our city around.

I think for me, the one thing that has stuck out about these four is that every time they spoke of goals they hope to achieve they rarely say “I will…” but rather it’s always been “We will…”.

Unity Nov 2015

So, do they have a lot of work to do? Yes they do and so do we. Let’s do this Snellville. Let’s make Snellville what it needs to be not only for us but in the eyes of so many who like to keep us under a microscope. Let’s see if they will pay attention as the positive unity grows.

  1. To quote Harriet Beecher Stowe…”When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hang on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.”
Regretfully, we weren’t able to attend installation due to a prior commitment. Kudos to our fresh new council who …”hung in, never gave up” and are now in the “right place”. On November 3, the tide turned in Snellville!

  2. I am looking forward to a united Snellville. It’s a shame that most everything I heard last night involved the NAACP and the firing of Ms. Richardson. She needed to go. Too much drama involved in her placement. It makes me sick to think that someone would compare her to Rosa Parks.

Congratulations to the Mayor and Council – a united team. I look forward to hearing progress instead of name calling and fighting. Go Snellville!!
