Police say they’ve confirmed the Norcross attack stemmed from a fight over the teen needing to take his medication.
A 15-year-old boy is being charged as an adult in his mother’s strangling death, according to Gwinnett County Police.
Patrick Gibson, of Norcross, has been charged with felony murder and aggravated assault in the Tuesday death of his mother, 47-year-old Faith Haynes.
He is currently being held at Metro Regional Youth Detention Center in Rockdale.
The incident happened shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday, when police responded to the 1300 building of the Oakwood Vista Apartments in Norcross.

By that point, police say Gibson had fled the apartment. A short time later, he was detained by police near the front of the apartment complex.
There were no other family members inside the apartment when the attack took place, according to police.
A police department spokesman said it’s been confirmed that Gibson suffers from mental health issues and that the attack stemmed from a fight with his mother about refusing to take his medication.
