Greetings my fellow Snellville citizens
My name is Cortez Riden and I am a 2019 City Council Post 1 candidate. I was born at Button-Gwinnett Hospital in Lawrenceville in the summer of 1969.
I have lived and worked in the Gwinnett County Community for the past 50 years and can truly say that there’s no better place to raise a family. (Of course I am biased).
I attended Central Gwinnett High School and afterwards furthered my education at Gwinnett College of Business; where I earned a degree in Computer Info/Business Administration Management. The very same year I graduated from college; I also became a licensed and ordained Christian Minister. I am also a graduate of Gwinnett Technical College in Heating and Air Technologies. From 1996 through 2001, I owned and operated O&E Restorations, a home renovation Company.
For the past 30 years I have been involved in organizations that provide food and clothing to those of less fortune.
I currently hold the position of service manager at SOVA Kennesaw State University Student Housing And Senior Pastor of LivingProof Ministries in Lawrenceville. I also authored the autobiography (Repercussions of an Ill Spent Life).
My family inspired me to run for office. I want to ensure that my legacy is one that they can emulate and be proud of over time. I have a lovely wife and the father of seven children; six daughters and one son. With my eldest daughter deceased, one college graduate, four currently attending Universities and a sixth grader.
For years I have seen how Snellville have grown and flourished. I believe that the city cares about its citizens, the welfare of its community and also the children of tomorrow. But I also believe that fair representation of who and what Snellville really is, should be more than a slogan but a way of life. I want to make sure that Snellville is represented by all people regardless of color, gender, religion, social or economic status.
I am not a perfect person nor am I a wealthy man. But what I am is proud , hard working, caring and compassionate, tax paying citizen who values the lives and livelihood of all Snellville Residents.
If there’s one thing that I have learned through the years; is that money, fame, and fortune can make you financially wealthy, but only genuine relationships with people will make you rich ( and I would rather have the latter).
I want to be on a city council that will work together for the betterment of our community. I want to be part of a city council that not only resolves conflicts of today, but are also proactive enough to plan for the future. I want to be the voice of equality, as well as an instrument of commerce.
A vote for Cortez Riden is a vote for transformation.
Thank you and May your days be filled with Sunshine!!
Sincerely,
Cortez Riden
