On January 30, police learned of two other victims who were allegedly scammed by the man. They said he told them he was an immigration attorney who could bring immigrants from Mexico to the United States legally as well as legalize anyone’s immigration status.

The victims paid him more than $20,000 to help gain legal status for 18 foreign workers from Latin America. After several months went by and no progress was made, the suspect stopped taking the victims’ phone calls.

Another victim came forward saying the same man introduced himself as an attorney last year and promised to fix his illegal immigration status. The suspect also said he could help bring several of the victim’s family members legally to the United States from Mexico.

The victim paid the suspect more than $10,000 for counsel. As in the other cases, after payment was received, the suspect stopped communicating with the victims and nothing was done regarding their immigration status.

All of the victims met with the man at Mozart Bakery, located at 1630 Pleasant Hill Rd. in Duluth.

Gwinnett Police urge anyone, regardless of their immigration status, who was scammed by the man in question to come forward with information about the incident.

“Our objective is to stop this suspect from continuing to victimize and exploit individuals seeking legal status in this country,” said Gwinnett Police Cpl. Deon Washington.

Police also encourage anyone seeking legal counsel for any reason to verify the attorney’s status with the Secretary of State’s Office and the Georgia Bar Association.
